Whats' the chances of seeing a dealer start to install the hood lift supports?

Depending on the dealer, the mechanic may or may not be willing to install something like the gas cylinder struts for a fee, provided he has some instructions or is willing to take the time to figure it out. Some dealers are willing to install a non-factory turbo kit while others won't touch something like that.

Can anyone post pictures and instructions on how you installed the supports and where you connected them....

There is info at the beginning of this post. Sure the future will provide other very effective solutions and alternatives.

Hey @rabtech went to the site High Quality Automotive | Marine | Industrial Lift Supports you mentioned and found this....
1. Based on your recipt I found this
2016 Polaris Slingshot All Models Lift Support
not bad for $70 each2. then I found the item from the number on your installed lift..
Lift Supports Depot 4255M10 Gas Charged Lift Support
and these were $23.40 each......Seems like that company found out about the Slingshot family and has decided to make a very good profit from the family by repackaging just for the SS and raising the price as much as 2.5 times
Not nice....

The receipt isn't mine. I only have one gas strut on mine... Some people have installed two.... Mine has worked perfectly with just the one lift strut on the passenger side...
That would double the price if you went with two of them and had to have 4 mounting points instead of two....
I can tell you that my hood open and closes with two fingers... I was at Maggie Valley showing how easy it was to open in the hotel parking lot.... I tried with one finger and I couldn't get it to move past the latches... Once it was 1/2" past the latches I could use my pinky finger to open it the rest of the way...
I cant remember who all saw me doing it but they may chime in.
I may do a video of it if I get time to day...

have to agree about only needing 1. Honestly been trying to get a small business off the ground. I have a design that I have someone testing. He should get it today. Uses one gas strut and a rear bracket that is further back than the shock location but still uses existing mounting holes. The front hole will still need to be drilled in the hood title bracket.
If all goes well this may be the first product I offer. Will need to review cost to see if it would be profitable based off comments here. Goal would be to use that to springboard bigger and better SS stuff. -
@Ruptured Duck where is your roof design? I've been waiting for over 6 months to see the reveal!!

... damn downed SS delayed it a little. Soon... very soon. The North GA ride group will get to see it tested heavily ...
Did get reinstalled yesterday. -

There is very good pictures and the part numbers on the dark side. I used the photo's and had no problem installing. But I did take out the top shock bolt to make it easier to install that end

The pics pretty much show it all. The hardest part is figuring out where to drill the holes in the hood mechanism. Here is a link tot he original posting over there and it has some good pics, too - Putting shocks on Hood really helps opening. Just finished | Polaris Slingshot Forum

Drill it dead center of the bar... Half way between the bolt holes.....
-
NEMESIS if you have not purchased yet, I have the whole set-up struts, balls, bolts and never installed it, if you want it let me know.
@DuaneIndy why are you not installing?
How much do you want for the kit?
-
Hey Cycle Springs. This could be a good item for you guys to carry and install.

Hey Rab...why not drill hole a couple of inches closer to top bolt, looks like lift angle and clearance would be better.
-
close hood and then look inside to the bracket. That hole location is as far up as you can get before interference with the other bracket.

Can't answer to that.I just know mine opens with one finger. I can almost do it with my pinky finger. But I have to use two fingers past the catches then it will come up with my pinky finger.

Good enough for me...can't argue with what works
